The common name for this compound is also Mohrs Salt and was
used in analytical chemistry a long time. Its much more stable at
the air as ferrous sulfate and if you take care not to overheat
the solution and cool down not to slowly you get clear nicely
shaped crystals like these.
This specimen is currently exhibited at the mineral museum in
Pforzheim.
