Ammonium Ferrous Sulfate

chemical formula : (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2 · 6 H2O
crystal class : monoclinic prismatic
growing method : slowly cooling of the aquaeous solution
growing time : about 48 hours
crystal size : app. 1.5 centimeters

The common name for this compound is also Mohrs Salt and was used in analytical chemistry a long time. Its much more stable at the air as ferrous sulfate and if you take care not to overheat the solution and cool down not to slowly you get clear nicely shaped crystals like these.
This specimen is currently exhibited at the mineral museum in Pforzheim.
