To get to the SHAPE output-file start SHAPE, read
in or calculate a new crystal and go to "File"
in the main menue bar. In the drop down menue now
unfolding you will find the option "List
Results...". Click on it and check in
the dialog box now popping up the option "List
detailed information on faces, corners and
edges". Now you click on "OK"
and a listing of a lot of parameters will show up,
which you can either save in a text-file or transfer
by cut and paste directly into this web page. You
just need the complete listing of all the different
faces, corners and edges.
Since the listing results base on the actual
orientation of the crystal on the screen its a good
idea to have the SHAPE crystal in a standard
orientation e.g. you pull down the menue
"Rotation" and choose the option
"Align Face or Vector" then "Align on
face" indices 1 0 0 and choose to use default
alignment vector (the face 1 0 0 is "flat"
on the screen).
Within the POV-file you can change the color of the
wire-frame the radius (thickness) as the whole thing
is a "union" its easy to translate, rotate
or to rescale. With the default light source setting
you get already a cool 3-D effect trough the shadows.TWINS and TWINS with
"intercrystal corners & edges"
This version of the
SHAPE to POV converter will also handle twins however
if you have "intercrystal corners and
edges" it will give you an error
message as SHAPE splits the total of corners and
edges in regular ones the intercrystal ones.
Just move the "intercrystal" ones with cut
and paste at the end of the regular ones so that you
have only one running row each of corners and edges
remaining and delete then the "intercrystal
corner and edges" part.
